Trivia
- This controller is themed around Char, a character from the Mobile Suit: Gundam series.
- This Gundam Char WaveBird was released as a limited offer from the Club Nintendo reward program, where only 1000 were given to customers who followed a very specific process, making it the second rarest official GameCube controller.
- This controller was offered between December 9th 2004 and January 31st 2005. The customer had to register “Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam Vs. Zeta Gundam” to their Club Nintendo account, then they were entered into a draw for one of the 1000 exclusive WaveBirds. It was expected to be delivered through February 2005.
- The original promotion for this offer can be seen here: https://web.archive.org/web/20041204085011/https://www.nintendo.co.jp/club/gvsz/index.html
- This is the only WaveBird variant to have a unique matching copper red receiver, the three other variants have a grey receiver.
- This controller comes with a special sticker on the back side of the controller near the Nintendo logo.
- To confirm the winners of the draw, Club Nintendo sent a red certificate to the lucky fans ahead of the delivery of the prize. This certificate was often lost, and so a full Gundam Char WaveBird set is hard to come by. See the certificate with its translation provided by Shairn below.
